4/16-Blue sky and blue track mean records fall at the Great Valley Relays

It was another record-setting day at the Great Valley Relays. The sky and track were blue, so good things were bound to happen. North Penn got in their tune-up for the Penn Relays 4x800, going 7:59.04 for a new meet record. The other boys' distance relay, the DMR, also saw a new record - this one from Unionville, who ran 10:47.76. In the Field, Penncrest's Mike Morganti and Terrance Jackson teamed for a new record in the Discus Relay of 287.10. Wendel Simpkins and Terrance Jackson of Glen Mills set a new Meet Record for the Long Jump Relay at 43.03.

For the girls, Gwynedd-Mercy Academy ran 21:25.98 to set a new meet record in the 4x1600, plus ran 12:22.18 to win the DMR. The North Penn girls got in some quick 4x800 pre-Penn, going 9:29.63, a meet record. Coatesville's 4x200 also set a record with their 1:44.14. In the 4x100, it was a record for Coatesville in 48.6. Downingtown West got their names in the record book for the Sprint Medley, running 4:13.34. And Henderson's 4x400 went 3:58.96 to take the 4x400. The Gra sisters, Tayvon and Kaleena, got together to set meet records in both the Shot Put and Discus Relays, their totals 78-01.50 and 222-07, respectively. Tayvon put the Shot 40-01.50, while frosh sister Kaleena went 38-00. In the Discus, the individual throws were 126 for Tayvon and 96-07 for Kaleena. Ryann Krais of Methacton teamed with Missy Baumgardner to set a Long Jump Meet Record of 33-01. Krais' best jump was 17-06. And Phoenixville set a Pole Vault record of 20-09, with Kelli McDonald clearing 11-00.
