Competing as a freshman for the final time before she moves into the 10th grade, Methacton star Ryann Krais showed the rest of the US the future of the sprint hurdles for the next three years. In the Intermediate Girls competiton, Krais won both the 100 Hurdles and the 400 Hurdles, going 14.54 and 1:00.08, respectively. But probably her most impressive performance was a PR in the 400, taking 4th in 55.15 -- a time that is faster than the freshman PR of Wissahickon\'s Krista Simkins four years ago. Krais also placed in the Long Jump, going 17-11.00 for 5th place. The effort was rewarded with an additional prize as the recipient of the Joel Ferrell Award for the Outstanding Female Track Athlete of the Meet. Also in Intermediate Girls, Gratz\'s Clarenchell Tate was 2nd in the 200 in 24.41. Chester\'s Shaniel Chambers went 2:14.19 for 2nd in the 800, while Council Rock South\'s Ijeoma Iheoma was 5th in 2:17.46. Chelsea Clark of Lower Gwynedd PA took 1st in the 3000 meter Racewalk in 16:39.54. The Mt. Airy TC girls were 3rd in the 4x100 in 47.25.
In Young Women\'s action, Allyn Laughlin, Center, took 2nd in the Shot Put with a throw of 43-07.75. Brianna Broyles of William Allen, was 4th in the 400 Hurdles in 1:02.13. Wissahickon\'s Liz Jackson was 5th in the Discus with a throw of 120-03.00. And in the 3000 Racewalk, Roya Lemon of Philadelphia, was 5th in 23.50.01.
Jermaine Lowery of Sharon Hill (Academy Park) had a great meet, taking 1st in the Intermediate Boys 400 Hurdles, running 53.29. He was 7th in the 110 Hurdles with a 15.20. Alex Holcombe of Souderton was 5th in the IB Discus with his 146-07, and 12th in the Shot Put at 45-08.50, and was 6th in the Javelin (144-03) behind Mount Carmel\'s Brent McPeak in 4th (148-09)... but it was when he put it all together and added eight events that he took his championship, tallying 6,071 points to win the Decathlon.
