We have now reached the final month of the season, meaning it's time for big meets and warm weather.

 

This past weekend was track and field's biggest annual spectacle, the Penn Relay Carnival. Many schools recorded great

relay performances, but despite that, only the 4x400 meter relay produced a new state leader.

 

That honor went to the indoor 4x400 meter champions Penn Wood with their Philly Area winning time of 3:18.16. Bensalem

followed right behind them with a PA#2 time of 3:19.12. Wissahickon moved to PA#5 with a 3rd place finish of 3:21.30. In

the 4x100, Strath Haven recored the best time with a PA#4 time of 42.38. That mark was over shadowed by Aliquippa's PA#2

time of 42.30 at the Midwestern Athletic Conference. Pennridge had the best 4x800 meter relay time with a PA#3 time of

7:53.34 in Friday's prelims. The top eight in the 4x800 are under 8 minutes.

 

In open events, Billy Stanley of South Park won the javelin, improving his state leading and US#2 mark to 223-3! David

Reinhardt of Bradford Area threw 201-3 for PA#5 honors. Kyle Long of Hempfield (3) (PA#1 193-4) and Bryan Pearson of Bangor

Area (PA#2 181-4) finished 2nd and 4th respectively in the discus. Jalen Ramsey of Norristown moved up to PA#4 in the high

jump with a clearance of 6-7.75. Chris Williams of Strath Haven finished 2nd in the pole vault with a PA#2 clearance of 16

feet even. Drew Magaha of Upper Moreland finished 4th in the mile, moving up to the top of the state in the mile/1600 in

4:12.74, while Dustin Wilson of Chestnut Hill Academy ran 8:30.18 in the 3000 for 2nd.

 

Though the number of top 8 performances away from Penn were minimal, we had some good ones that did make the list. We have

a new state leader in the 300 meter hurdles, as Dustin Fuller of Washington ran 36.95 at the South Fayette Invitational,

good enough for US#5! The boys 3200 meter run at the Wyalusing Invite record 4 top five state performances led by a PA#2

win from Sean Burke of Abington Heights (9:23.20). 13 boys have broken 9:30 in the 3200 meter run after six weeks of the

season. Adam Bridgeforth of Nazareth Area moved up to PA#4 in the triple jump with a mark of 46-9.75 at the ASD

Invitational. Ryan Hart of Downingtown East won the shot put at the Springfield Invitational with a PA#4 mark of 57-11.50.
