It was a huge year for the boys pole vault in Pennsylvania. Many of the state's best posted big improvements throughout the season, culminating in one of the most competitive seasons in state history. Records went down everywhere.
But who improved the most? We looked at the data to see how much PA's pole vaulters improved since last season. Ryan Ruggiero (above) of Central Bucks South improved almost three feet since last season, and also posted a PR over a foot at the District 1 Championships to qualify for states.
To be included in the list, athletes have to have performances in the MileSplit database in the pole vault both in 2017 and 2018. We only included athletes that improved upon their 2017 best.
The chart below gives each athlete's 2017 best, along with their 2018 best. On the far right and sorted is the athletes's improvement in feet. We've listed the athletes that had PRs stay the same or improve this season.
