Meet Results... what takes so long???

Why does it take so long for PA Milesplit to post Meet Results.
NJ Milesplits seems to have them posted within an hour after the meet has ended.

#1. I wouldn't assume that the meet directors always send them out that fast.
#2. If the staff is attending invitationals, they may not even be home to update the site. This is staffed by just a few people, you know.

    1. As far as meet directors sending them out quickly... no reason not to!!! They all have computers at the site and finalizing the results... upload and send!!! They all have access to internet at sites or can purchase that if necessary!!!

    2. NJRunners has them up within 1 hour of the event...
He is a one man gang.... he is at events... I assume he has his computer with him, etc when at events.
    He also tweets about events!!!
Perhaps NJ is far more "into" xc and track than PA is... that is if the meet directors are lacksidasical or if those who run pamilesplit are lacksidasical.

    @ShoreTFXC

Whether or not there is no reason not to, it is up to the Meet Directors to get that info out. Heck, I was at a meet this weekend where when the 4x4 was starting they still hadn't posted the prelim times for the 200, let alone the finals. Sorry, but you've got to look at those folks before Don and his crew.

Goodie for your NJDude, he's our hero. And as for your starting a "my weenie is bigger than yours," grow up.

too funny... and you are a coach...
I think there are just more xc/track enthusiasts in NJ.... much more competitive in NJ than PA... (I'm originally from Pittsburgh area and I can tell you xc/track competition is weak in the wpial!!)
heck, we even have a track show that was started up by a HS coach (Colts Neck). It is very informative.

I do agree, most of the problem is the meet manager... for instance.
    1. Why to most meets only post top 6 instead of all the times for all the runners.
    2. How can you have an invitational but use hand times!!! ur kidding me (Central Valley Warrior Invitational)

Wow ... honestly what difference does it make that you have to wait a little longer for meet results? ... I was a runner in Western PA "back in the day" and everything was hand-timed (invitationals as well) and there were no web-sites with results (actually they were called newspapers back then and they usually only posted the top 3) ... as a fan of the sport, I love the fact that there are web-sites available to check on meet results from across the country - this is awesome!!

So what about back in the day or 30 years ago!!!
These days, college coaches look at milesplit profiles... they don't care about your duel times... etc.
I can't believe invitationals in PA are using hand times..
Hand times should not be posted on milesplit profile or it should be followed by "H" so person knows it is a handtime.

So, if you only list top 6.... that time at an invitational will never post on your milesplit profile!!!
Lots of kids in 10th place and lower for that matter get college scholarships!!!
Someone needs to establish standards for invitationals... charge more if need be for FAT timing... and post all times, etc for ALL athletes!!! Licensed ref's for all events!!! etc.

Just because I'm from NJ... lol
I've got neices, nephews, friends kids, etc...

I have yet for someone to explain why hand times for invitationals are acceptable!!!
I guess the problem is... PA people put up with the BS!!
maybe that is why PA xc and track not that competitive... heck, my 8th grade daughter probably rank 8th among beaver county HS girls 800m... but lucky if she is 8th among 8th graders in Ocean County NJ!!!

only 1??? I think quite a few than that... and clearly NJ produces more top runners than PA.
If you are going to Penn Relays... watch the girls mile... winner.. Ajee Wilson.
She will do just enough to win.... she rarely goes for time.

@Shore ... I am glad that you are proud of your adopted state, but don't sleep on your home state of PA. Magaha in the boys Mile at Penn Relays, Angel in the Mile - yes it will be a great race w/Ajee ... I'll give you the DMR (hard to beat a prep team w/a 20 yrd junior running close to 4:00 in the mile) ... but in terms of not getting results instantly - deal with it and relax ... this is a great time of year in this sport and I, for one, am done wasting my time reading your posts ...

Angel is not a miler... better for xc and 5k
    Ajee has beaten her before...
Ajee doesn't even compete in the HS circuit anymore... her most recent 1500 is 4:28 I think against elites, post-collegiates.

    Good evening
This is Pat Montferrat and I'm the webmaster on NJRunners.com
This thread has gotten out of hand and while I appreciate the support that "Shore" has given, there is no reason to come on here an speak poorly of my fellow affiliate of the MileSplit Network. Don does a phenomenal job in Pa. and is the main reason why I joined and remain with MileSplit. Please do not disparage a site for results. We are at the mercy of a number of factors (meet management, timing services, etc.) and often wait for one of those factors to get the results to us. Believe me, that is a frustrating experience.
Rather than criticizing, celebrate that there a guys like Don whose passion for the sport keeps usurp to speed on our sport. Used to be we had to wait for the Sunday paper and hope that meet reults were somewhere in the sports section (usually in very small type agate). What Don and the MileSplit Network does is something to be appreciated.
    Please, enough smack talk

    See you at Penn
    Pat

Shore...come here and argue all you want. Forums are more interesting if there are arguments, even if they are pointless.

It seems like your just trying to start trouble for no reason. Don did an awesome job with PA mile split. Also and for bashing PA for not being competitive maybe it's because we actually enjoy what we do rather then becoming absolute cutthroats about it. There is no need to get so upset about state results that don't concern you.
