I am a jump coach and there is a trend that really bothers me. I don't understand why the officials, on a regular basis, stand with their backs to the coaches/spectators when watching the board. Not only do they block the coaches from being able to see where their athlete took off from, but they don't bother to turn around and announce the mark. Unless they are posting the jumps on a placard, nobody knows what the jump was besides the official and their clipboard. Maybe there is a valid reason why they do this. I would love to hear the reason if there is one.
