Girls 3200m - Lydia Olivere vs. Abbe Goldstein

The Henderson Invitational is always home to fast races and exciting finishes. On Saturday, we got both.

Lydia Olivere of Padua Academy came up from Delaware for the girls' 3200 meters to race against some of the top distance runners in PA, including Germantown Academy's Abbe Goldstein and Downingtown West's Aislinn Devlin.

Goldstein took control of the race early on, but Olivere didn't let her out of her sights. She kept a few meters distance and with a couple laps bridged the small gap. They were side-by-side heading into the final lap. In a final 100 meter sprint to the line, it was the Delawarean Olivere that got the advantage on Goldstein, winning in 10:30.47. Goldstein was second across in a new PA#1 10:31.85.

Devlin, who went out more conservatively, took third in PA#5 10:46.96. Oley Valley junior Rebecca Snyder in 10:55.29 and West Chester East freshman Allyson Clarke was fifth in 10:59.19.
