As always, the Shippensburg Invitational is well - of ChampionSHIP caliber

State champs, and all-Americans abound in the annual mid-season celebration of PA Track & Field

In the boys meet, Cumberland Valley could pull a sweep in the AAA relay events, as they come in as the top seeds in the 4x100m, 4x400m and 4x800m relays.  Central Dauphin East and Carlisle could challenge them in the 4x100 and State College could challenge in the 4x400m.

The AAA girls 1600m run should also be a barnburner with multiple standouts entered.  Regan Rome of Dallas (2012 Foot Locker Finalist), Tessa Barrett of Abington Heights (2012 indoor 3K champ and state record holder), Greta Lindsley of Penn Manor, and Paige Stone of Pottsville Area, will all go head to head over 4 laps of the track. Barrett will also come back in the 3200m run with her closest challenger coming from Cumberland Valley's Mady Clahane.

Cyre Virgo, Fleetwood Area, the 2013 indoor state and national champion, will be competing here and has a PR of 5-11.25, which she set in winning New Balance Indoor Nationals.

In the AA girls javelin returning AA state champ Christine Streisel of Tamaqua Area, leads the way with a monster seed of 160-11, but Sarah Firestone, Mercersburg Academy, is full of confidence this season and comes in with a mark of 144.10.

Marshay Ryan, Chambersburg, the 2013 indoor state champion, will be competing in the long jump. She also won the indoor triple jump, and is the returning AAA champ in both events.

Timothy Moses, Palmyra, the 2013 indoor state champion, will be competing in the pole vault and has a 16-2 PR.

Vinny Todaro, Big Springs, is the AAA XC champ and will be looking to win the AAA boys 1600m run.  He comes into the race with a time of 4:16.73.  Jeff Groh, Lower Dauphin, is also in the race and has a time of 4:21.28 coming into the meet.

Teammates Alec Kunzweiler, Cumberland Valley, and Alex Coburn should lead their team in the relays and are solid favorites in the AAA 800m run with times coming in of 1:53.14 and 1:56.33.  Zach Brehm, Carlisle, should also be in the mix with a time of 1:55.08 coming in.

Alex Coburn is also entered in the 2k steeple with a time of 6:23.71, a big favorite in the race.

Emma Cousins, State College, is the favorite in the AAA girls 800m run with a time of 2:14.71 but 7 other girls are under 2:20 and it should be a close race up front.

Bryan Pearson, Bangor Area, has tossed the discus 191-00 and is favored in the AAA event.

Cole Proffitt, Manheim Central, has a best coming into the meet of 2009 in the AAA Javelin and the weather should be nice enough to give another go crack 200'.

Colby Grant, Susquehanna Twp, is under 11 in the AAA 100m dash as well as Denzel Pierre, Cedar Crest, so the race should be fast and close.

There are 7 sub-40 guys in the AAA 300 hurdles with Kellen Williams, Chambersburg, leading the way with a time of 38.49.

Returning state champ Ibn Short, Milton Hershey, is in the high jump and leads the AAA field with a mark of 6-9. He was NBIN runner-up in March

In the girls AAA 4x800 Garnet Valley leads the field with a time of 9:25.10 over State College, 9:30.32 and Cumberland Valley, 9:39.72.

Rachael DeCecco, Cumberland Valley, leads the competition in the AAA 300 hurdles with a time of 44.95.

Kennedy Shank, Northern, is the top performer in the AAA pole vault with a mark coming into the meet of 11-9.

Courtney McCartney, Selinsgrove, is a big favorite in the AAA shot put with a mark coming in of 43-9, well up on the nearest competitor.

Evan Arnott, Schuylkill Valley, is a huge favorite in the AA discus with a mark of 181-1, not too far behind the top AAA competitor.

In the boys AA high jump Charles Wilson-Adams, Tyrone Area, comes in at 6-8 and Jared Horne, Schuylkill Valley, is at 6-7 and both should battle for the win.

Jared Horne is also the favorite in the AA triple jump with a leading mark of 46-9.

In the boys AA long jump Danny Jackson, Trinity, comes in with a solid mark of 23-1.25 and is a clear favorite for the win.

Jason Coon and Evan Arnott, Schuylkill Valley teammates, are favorites in the AA shot put with indoor state champ Coon at 59-7.75 and Arnott at 57-11.25 coming into the meet.

St. Basil Academy has a solid 9:42 clocking in the AA 4x800 and should win the meet fairly easily.

Katie Cassidy, St. Basil, and Shannon Quinn, Trinity, should battle in the AA girls 800 with times coming in of 2:16.21 and 2:17.10.

Carter Green, North Schuylkill, leads the way in the AA discus with a mark of 138-7.

Avree Wright, Annville-Cleona, leads the AA shot put in 38-4 but Christine Streisel is lurking with a mark of 38-00.5.
