Former Shippensburg University cross country All-American Katie Spratford (right) '13, and former assistant coach/graduate distance runner Lara Crofford (left) have joined the New England Distance Project, a post-collegiate training group based in Rhode Island.

The duo were featured in a guest post via Level Renner magazine.

For her career, Spratford attained eight All-America awards in her sports: three in cross country ('10, '11 and '12), three indoors (5K in '12 and '13, DMR in '12) and twice outdoors (10K in '12 and '13). She has also won eight PSAC championships – six indoors, one outdoors and one in cross country.

Crofford was an assistant coach for the Raiders last season and in 2012 competed in indoor and outdoor track at Shippensburg. She was an NCAA indoor qualifier in the 5K and an NCAA outdoor qualifier in the 10K for the Raiders. She earned her bachelor's degree from Nebraska and was a nine-time Big 12 place-winner with the Cornhuskers.

"Spratty" and Crofford recently went 1 & 3 at the recent Piper XC Challenge at Shippensburg.
