PennTrackXC: How is your fitness now that you are nearing the end of the 2013 season? What excites you most about the meets to come?

Paige Stoner: I am very happy with my fitness right now.  My workouts have been going very well!  I’m very excited for leagues, districts, and hopefully states to see what I can do in my last high school cross country races. Also, I’m looking forward to our last home meet because I really dislike our home course and I’ve been counting down the number of times I had to run it since my freshman year.  October 9th was my 9th and final time!

PennTrackXC: Which 2013 meet has been the most important for you thus far, and what did you learn from the race?

Paige Stoner: Probably the PTXC race because I went out a little faster than I should have and ended up not running as fast as I probably could have.  I took what I learned and ran a much smarter race at the Carlisle Invite.

PennTrackXC: What kind of adjustments, if any, have you made this season?

Paige Stoner: Luckily, I haven’t needed to make any adjustments.

PennTrackXC: When & how did you get started in cross country?

Paige Stoner: I started cross country in 7th grade.  I had always been fast on the soccer field, so I thought I would give running a try.  I had a really hard time deciding between soccer and cross country my freshman year.

PennTrackXC: Who has influenced you the most in your life and what they meant to you and your success?

Paige Stoner: My Pop (grandfather) was the most influential person in my life.  He always believed in me and encouraged me to dream big.  I always admired his work ethic as well as the respect he gave everyone.

PennTrackXC:What are your keys to success when it comes to your training program?

Paige Stoner: I believe the biggest key to my success is that I’ve run with the boy’s team since the first week of my freshman year.  Having them to push me in workouts and training runs has been so helpful!  I also think a key to my success is the physical and mental strength I’ve gotten from running in such a hilly town.  It’s also the reason I love hilly courses!

PennTrackXC: What is your most memorable performance in a cross country race over your career and why?

Paige Stoner: I will never forget the Schuylkill League Championship in 2011!  Our team won scoring 21 points and we took places 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, and 8. It was such an exciting day!

PennTrackXC: What is your greatest non-running experience in cross country so far and why?

Paige Stoner: One of the coolest things our team did was form an ultimate frisbee team!  We started playing my freshman year for fun and eventually started playing in tournaments.  We even played in a beach tournament this past summer in Wildwood, NJ.  Some of my other great experiences have been with one of my best friends and teammate, Gabby!  We have so many amazing and crazy memories from these past couple of years!

PennTrackXC: What are your goals for the 2013 cross country season?

Paige Stoner:
- For our team to three-peat as league champs. Go for the win in the District 11 Meet
- Place top 10 at states and run a PR for the Hershey course
- Do as well as I can at the Foot Locker Regional Meet
