11/11 WEEKEND SUMMARY:

In New York, Neely Spence tuned up for the upcoming Foot Locker Regionals with a very quick 17:38 at the NEW YORK ROADRUNNERS XC CHAMPIONSHIPS. Lara Crofford was the 2nd woman in the race. Terence Lee, Engineering & Science, was 3rd overall in 16:20. Frances Koons dominated the NCAA DIVISION I MID ATLANTAIC REGION. Rachel Papin and Leanna Nastase will join her in Indiana for the NCAA Championships. Dan Mazzocco qualified individually. Steve Hallinan led American to an auto bid with his 6th place in the meet at Lock Haven University

11/11 NCAA Division I Mid Atlantic Region @ Lock Haven University

Frances Koons (Villanova/Allentown Central Catholic) dominated the Mid-Atlantic region from start to finish, running 20:03 to come within a second of the course record. She had slowed during the final stretch to minimize the effort and to improve recovery for the race that matters most - the NCAA Champs on November 20th. Joining Koons as individual qualifiers will be Rachel Papin (LaSalle/St. Hubert's), 8th in 21:00, and Leanna Nastase (Bucknell/Forest Hills), 9th in the same time. Her teammates Danielle Schopf (Cardinal O'Hara), and Christa Plummer (Palisades) finished 16th and 17th in identical times of 21:12. In the men's race, Penn State senior Dan Mazzocco (Baldwin HS) also qualified for the championships as an individual, running 30:24.1 to finish 4th. Sam Bair (Pittsburgh/Shaler) was 9th in 30:38.1; Mike Didio (St. Joseph's/Council Rock North) was 13th in 30:48.5; Tom Slosky (Duquesne/Highlands) took 17th in 31:03.0; and Joe Dare (LaSalle/Souderton) was 21st in 31:09.0. Steve Hallinan (American/Cardinal O'Hara) was 6th 30:28.5 to lead American University to a 2nd place team finish and an automatic berth.


11/12 New York Road Runners Club XC Champs @ Van Cortlandt Park, NY

Shippensburg junior Neely Spence tuned up for the upcoming Foot Locker championships with a torrid 17:38 on the Van Cortlandt 5K layout. She was the first woman to finish, and was followed by Big Spring senior Lara Crofford, 2nd in 18:15. Council Rock North senior Allison Sikora 19:02, Cedar Cliff senior Kassie Meholick ran 19:06, while New Oxford sophomore Jordan Jenkins went 19:19. Terence Lee, Engineering & Science, was 3rd overall in 16:20.



Rachel Papin (LaSalle/St. Hubert's) advanced to nationals.


Leanna Nastase (Bucknell/Forest Hills) also advanced.


Liz Costello (Princeton/Conestoga) scored for Mid-Atlantic champion Princeton.
