John Lewis of Cheltenham was the catalyst to a monstrous performance by his Cheltenham team on Saturday at the Hispanic Games. He started his day winning the indoor state meet rematch in the 400 meter dash against Charles Snorweah of Pennsbury to take the state lead in the 400 meter dash in 48.81. Field

Jordan Geist of Knoch made an emphatic start to his sophomore season. After a freshman season that saw him throw over 60 feet, he outdid himself by setting an all-time personal best in the shot put with a US#4 mark of 61-9.50 to win the first Youngstown State Invitational of the season. The mark is over five inches better than his outdoor best set last March. It is also PA#9 all-time.

Girls

Track

Taylor Chapman of Pennridge has arguably been the girls MVP through the first half of the indoor season. She has competed in 10 races and has won 8 of them. As each week comes, she continues to raise her game and set personal best after personal best. Her latest exploits in New York were a prime example. After finishing 2nd in the 55 meter dash in 7.04, she won the 200 meter dash for the 2nd time on the Armory banked track in less than 2 weeks. Her time of 24.49 shares the US#2 spot.

Honorable Mention: Brooklynn Broadwater, Springside Chestnut Hill

Field

It was a clash of the shot put titans at Lebanon Valley on Saturday, and Emily Stauffer of Cocalico defeated the state champion Courtney McCartney of Selinsgrove to take one huge step towards regaining the top spot in the indoor shot put game, a spot she held two years ago. Her mark of 47-10 was 1.5 inches better than McCartney, and was good for US#3 on the season. It was also the 2nd best performance in the indoor shot put in PA history!
