Anyone who thought that Gabby Wilkinson of Friends Central would hit the ground running in her first high school track season have been proven right, especially after her latest performance. The first year high school athlete split 3:35 on the 1200 meter leg of the victorious Friends Central DMR (PA#1 12:20.29) and then followed that up with a narrow win in the 800 meter run over the AAA 800 meter outdoor champion in a PA#2 and US#9 2:12.23! With that performance, Wilkinson is the US#1 freshman at 800 meters this season!

When you look up the word consistent in the dictionary, it should now feature a picture of Tyrone Area high jumper Erika Voyzey. The junior has competed at four competitions this season. All four competitions took place at Penn State. All four times she was victorious. All four times, including this past Thursday, she cleared 5-8. She still holds the top spot in the state with Cyre Virgo of Fleetwood Area ahead of their state clash on Sunday. She also shares the top spot in the country for juniors along with three others!

The range of ability from Central Dauphin East senior Charles Bowman Jr was on display Thursday night at State College. Bowman started the night by showing the hurdle ability everyone has seen this season, running 8.1 to win the 60 hurdles. Next up, he ran the 400 meter dash and became the 5th sub 50 second performer this season, running 49.5 for the win. Lastly, he joined his teammates in the 4x200 meter relay to record his 3rd win of the night with a PA#3 1:30.5! The biggest stage in the state awaits one of the MVPs of the season!

A familiar sight returned the TFCAofGP Meet of Champions on Saturday morning. Chris Stone of Springfield Montco was running back and forth between the high jump and the pole vault as he looked to get all the momentum he could get before defending his state titles this Sunday. Stone emerged as the winner of both the high jump and pole vault. He equaled his season best of 6-6 in the high jump and he cleared 14-3 to win the pole vault. Two wins in the bag and now a double title defense is up next.
