Friday 12/18: DVGTCA #2 (Lehigh University - Philip Rauch Fieldhouse, Bethlehem, Pa.)
The second DVGTCA meet produced another batch of solid performances, including eight (!) PA#1s.
Zea Morales, a senior from Central Bucks East, was the surprise of the night, running a PA#1 200m in 26.31, beating out Perkiomen Valley's Cheyenne Churchville and Cheltenham freshamn Bria Barnes for the win. Pennridge freshman standout Kouri Peace dominated the 300 meter field by almost four seconds to pick up the win and a PA#1 39.79.
The 60 meter hurdles was exciting as well. Sometimes hurdler, but usually sprinter Chanel Brissett proved her versatility, running a PA#1 8.46, defeating teammate Madison Langley-Walker and Perkiomen Valley freshman Christina Warren.
Gabrielle Wilkinson of Friends' Central, won her open debut, clocking a PA#2 600 meters in 1:38.29. Anna Willig of Great Valley won the 800 meters in 2:22.
The 3000 meters lived up to the hype. Six runners clocked elite performances in the loaded field. In the end, it was North Penn's Ariana Gardizy was victorious in a PA#1 10:31.20. That mark stood atop the leaderboard until Abbe Goldstein of Germantown Academy won at the Armory.
Souderton's Moira O'Malley bettered her PA#1 high jump, clearing 5-5, just below her PR of 5-6, to take the win. Also topping their season best was Evelyn Berecz of Downingtown East, who won the triple jump in 37.8-5 to stay PA#1. Berecz also took home first in the long jump at 16-10.25, an indoor PR for her. Langley-Walker of Cheltenham took second to Berecz in the triple with a PA#2 mark of 36-10.
Council Rock South's Dominque Franco made her season debut worthwhile, tying Katie Jones' PA#1 12 feet in the pole vault. Fellow Golden Hawk Savannah Wood bettered her winning mark from last week's DVG meet, clearing 11 feet to take second. The girls pole vault may possibly be the deepest event in the state after a number of great clearances this weekend.
In the relays, North Penn, a week after setting a PA#1 DMR, put down the top time in the state in the 4x800 at 9:48. Cardinal O'Hara (9:52) and Central Bucks West (9:54) weren't far behind. In the 4x400, Cheltenham clocked a PA#3 time of 4:05 and the Pennridge girls put together a strong 4x200, winning in 1:49.01, a PA#3.
