GIRLS PREVIEW

Stroudsburg's Allana Powlette (above), the reigning District 11 AAA champ, will look to defend her title at DeSales, the spot where she started her great junior season last year. The path to a repeat won't be easy, though.

Lansdale Catholic's Kayla Connelly will give her a good challenge and is the likely favorite. Connelly will race for the first time in her career at DeSales, but the senior has plenty of XC experience. Overall, it should be a great battle between Powlette and Connelly for the win here.

Owen J. Roberts will make their invite debut this season at DeSales. OJR, PA#6 in the most recent Saucony Flo50 rankings, will look to rebound after a loss in a duel meet to Perkiomen Valley. Led by Ally Brunton, they'll be challenged by Stroudsburg and 2015 Centaur champs Downingtown East. Northwestern Lehigh, winners at Moravian Academy last week, should also be factors.

BOYS PREVIEW

PA#11 Liam Conway of Owen J. Roberts.toes the line for the first time in an invite setting on Saturday, looking to win the Centaur Invite for the second straight year. The junior won by 11 seconds last year over Parkland's Hailemichael Geiger, and the two will do battle again this season. Also back from the top five at this meet last year is William Tennent's Sean Rahill and Holy Ghost Prep's Callahan Lennon. Twin Valley's Josh Faber was sixth at this race last season.

Lennon is coming off a win at the Lions Invitational at Moravian Academy last weekend. He may be the most race sharp, but it'll take a big race to dethrone Conway, who blazed a 16:24 on the hills at DeSales last year.

While Conway beat Geiger last year, it was Parkland that walked away with the team title over second place OJR, 67-74. Parkland returns a lot from last year's team and sit at PA#7. Parkland will be favored to repeat. William Tennent shouldn't be far off, though with Rahill, Evan Hutton and Matt Kraus with their eyes on high places. Sam Morgan of Parkland, fresh off a big season on the track (a District 11 AAA 1600 meter title), will be one to watch as well.
