The 10 Biggest Takeaways of Districts Week

Boys' Class-A individual race is wide open!

We have the defending champion back at the state meet, but that doesn't make him the easy pick this year for the boys of Class-A. Griffin Mackey of Sewickley Academy raced for the first time since the opening week of the season and took fourth at the District 7 Championships. But how healthy is the reigning champ? Can he pull off the repeat? (Watch highlights from the District 7 Class-A race above)

Others will look to knock him off, including the top three from that WPIAL race--Ben Littmann, Tristan Forsythe, and Shaun Hay--all from Winchester Thurston will be hungry (and they have team title hopes to push them as well). The runner-up from last year at states---Noah Curtin of Mercyhurst Prep---belongs in the conversation.

Then there's Phoenix and Donovan Myers of Seneca. There's the upstart newcomer, Brenden Miller of Upper Dauphin who could surprise like he did at District 3.

The favorite, however, may be Cambridge Springs' Connor Walsh. The senior won the District 10 title over the Myers brothers and Curtin. he was fourth a year ago and seems ready to make a big move to the front. But it's always hard to knock off a defending champ.
