The 10 Biggest Takeaways of Districts Week

Girls' Class-A is, too!

Like we said about the boys of Class-A, it's never easy to dethrone a champion. That's especially so when the cahmpion has won the last three years. Marianne Abdalah of Vincentian Academy will enter Saturday's state meet looking to win her fourth state title in four years. After a slow start to her season, Abdalah is looking like that could be in the cards (Watch the District 7 Class-A race above)

But, there are plenty of girls who would love to pull off the upset. Country Day of the Sacred Heart's Emma Seifried was a narrow runner-up to Abdalah last year and would love to knock her off this time. PA newcomer Isabel Sagar of Lyalsock has looked strong in her first season. Saint Joseph's Catholic's Sera Mazza has had a monster season. Fairview's Lilly Myers has been enjoying a breakthrough season.

The biggest threat to Abdalah may be Jen Korty of Forest City. Korty won District 2 convincingly on Wednesday, her fifth win of the year. Korty ran away with the Foundation Invitational, and, despite not even qualifying for the state meet as a junior, she could be the one to stop Abdalah's streak. Still, it looks like this title is up for grabs and like 2016, it could be decided at the line!
