What to watch for (1/14 WKND): VA Showcase, Dickinson, LVC, TSTCA, DVG, TFC, PCL & more

MileStat Presents the VA Showcase Preview

A few Pennsylvania teams and individuals will be making the trip down south to Virginia for the VA Showcase, presented by MileStat. The meet will be livestremed on FloTrack! Let's delve into some of the entries.

On Friday, we'll see the Germantown Friends' boys team in the DMR. The team of Colin Riley, Eli Schwemler, Jonnie Plass, and Nick Dahl will look for a quick time to open their indoor season. They'll matchup with a quick squad from Tennessee, Brentwood, as well as Lake Braddock and Loudoun Valley (Drew Hunter's former school).

In the girls' mile on Friday night, there's another loaded field assembled. The PA entries include Lansdale Catholic's Kayla Connelly and Eastern York's Maddie McLain.

Norristown is bringing a nice fleet to VA. They'll contest what are expected to be quick 4x200 and 4x400-meter relays. Their 1:39.77 in the 4x2 is the current state leader by over five seconds and they sit at US#2. In the open events, Jayana Webb is entered in the 55 meters, Siani Sanders in the 300 meters, Jonae Cook in the 200 meters, and Sheila Day is entered in the 55 meter hurdles.

In this week's edition of "Where in the World is Nick Wagner?" the answer is Virginia. The Penn Trafford senior, who we last saw at Penn State (and before that the Armory) is headed to the VA Showcase and he's entered in what should be a very fast 800 meters. The top seed is Brandon McGorty from VA, but also in the field is Dalton Hengst, the PA resident who attends McDonogh in Maryland. Wagner, who is PA#2 and US#5 in the 800, will look to improve upon his his season best time of 1:56.38.
