For a while, it looked like Germantown Friends was out of the race.
In a loaded DMR at the VA Showcase at the brand new Liberty University track, the lead teams---Brentwood, Loudoun Valley, and Lake Braddock---had opened up a sizable gap on the rest of the field. But as those teams quibbled about who should take the pace, Germantown Friends' Nick Dahl roared back into the race.
Dahl battled with some top notch milers, including Brentwood's Brody Hasty. With a little over 300 meters to go, Dahl even took the lead. In a battle to the finish, the Tigers ran 10:23 for second place. That time is a PA#1 by over 20 seconds and a US#2 just behind race winners Brentwood. In fact, that VA Showcase race is responsible for five of the nation's top six times so far this season.
