Ocean Breeze Invitational - BOYS SPRINT/HURDLES RECAP
There's just no stopping Terrance Laird this season. The Coatesville senior blasted a US#4 21.31 in the finals of the 200 meters, the second fastest time in state history. He's now just .09 off Brady Gehret's 2010 state record of 21.22. Laird also put down a 21.40 in the trials.
Imhotep's Ade Jones-Roundtree was second in a PA#3 21.72 and Dock Mennonite's Austin Kratz was third in 21.74.
The PA boys were well-represented in the final of the 55 meters. Four boys from Pennsylvania made the finals in the short sprint. Downingtown East's Jeremy Jennings took the win in a time of 6.39, a PA#2 and a big PR. Also in the that final, Imhotep's Kristian Marche was third in 6.46, Dock Mennonite's Kratz was fourth in 6.50, and Norristown's Austin Montgomery was fifth in 6.54.
Watch the 55 meter dash finals:
In the 400 meters, Saint Joseph's Prep's Miles Green took fifth overall, running 49.29, good enough for a PA#2. Bishop Shanahan's Keegan Hughes was seventh in 49.78 and Wissahickon's Rasheed Wright was eighth in 49.83.
In the 55-meter hurdles, Kyle Garland of Germantown Academy put down a big PR for a convincing win. Garland. He sits at PA#1, even with converting over 60-meter hurdle performances. More from Garland later. In that 55 hurdles finals, as well, we saw West Catholic's Dajone Averett take fourth in 7.80 and Pennridge's Alex Dimon in 7.82.
