INTERVIEWS

The second day of action at the Armory Track Invitational produced more quick times from some select Pennsylvania stars.

BOYS

Coateville's Terrance Laird made a big comeback in the 300 meters to steal the win in the final meters. Laird, who's been tearing up the track this season, moved up from his specialty, the 200 meters, and won in 33.76. That's a PA#1 and a US#4.

Bishop Shanahan's Nate Alleyne was fourth in a time of 34.13 and his teammates Keegan Hughes was sixth in 35.11. Watch an interview with Laird after the race:

Imhotep continued it's great season in the 4x200. The current US#1s returned to the Armory where they won at the New Balance Games a few weeks ago. The team of Ade Jones-Roundtree, Kristian Marche, Christian Brunson, and Christopher Wells didn't beat their own national leading time, but they still claimed another win, taking the 4x2 in 1:28.47.

Look for more from this squad as the season progresses and watch an interview with the quartet below:

North Pocono's Matt Slagus posted a big throw in the weight throw to take second place. Slagus threw 68-10.75, a PA#2 behind Jordan Geist. It's also a PR for Slagus.

The Penn Wood boys looked strong in the 4x800-meter relay, moving all the way up to PA#7, finishing in ninth place in a time of 8:08.31. Abington was tenth in the race in a time of 8:09.37.

GIRLS

Chanel Brissett raced the hurdles on Saturday. The Cheltenham senior, who raced in the Olympic Trials this past summer, competed in the Olympic Development section of the 60-meter hurdles. Brissett took third against a talented field, running a time of 8.44. That betters Brissett's own PA#1 and moves her to US#2. Brissett, who is coming off an injury appears to be rounding into form at the right time.

Cheltenham continued to show its strength and depth in the 4x200-meter relay. The Panthers took yet another Armory win, blowing away the field to win in a time of 1:39.08 for first place by over a second. The team of Alexis Crosby, Bria Barnes, Brielle Lewis, and Brissett weren't as fast as the New Balance Games, but it's yet another win for this fast group.

The Penn Wood girls took fourth place in a very fast 4x800-meter relay. Penn Wood ran 9:17.89, a PA#2 and US#7. It comes a day after Penn Wood went PA#1 in the 4x400. This should set up a big matchup between PW and North Penn at the state meet later this month in the 4x8. Six of the nation's top ten times came from that race on Saturday.

There were some flying times in the 300 meters. PA saw the first two under 40 seconds this season in the event in a fast race. Saucon Valley freshman Talitha Diggs continued her incredible first high school season, placing fifth in a time of 39.74. Cheltenham's Alexis Crosby was right behind her, taking sixth in 39.75, just a hundredth off Diggs.
