The season may be young, but that didn't stop some from chasing fast times on Saturday.
At the Pennsylvania Track Classic at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School, Abington Heights' Katie Dammer and Abington's Kelly Jawork showed off their early-season fitness in a great duel in the 1600 meters. Dammer was a late entry, but she made the most of her trip down from Clarks Summit. The pair were neck-and-neck through practically the entire as they separated themselves from the rest of the field.
In the end, Dammer had the better kick, crossing first in 4:57.63, but Jawork was second in 4:58.93. Both of those times make for some fast early-season performances and a sign of big things to come this spring for both runners.
