Shippensburg Invitational - AA Meet Recap

BOYS' RECAP

Winchester Thurston's Tristan Forsythe won the 3200 meters in a time of 9:38, the second fastest AA time of the season. He came back to take second in the 800 meters, which Tyrone's Joe Kohler won in 2:02.11. Juniata freshman Garrett Baublitz continued to show his talent despite his youth. He won the 1600 meters in 4:27.28.


Dock Mennonite's Austin Kratz earned a pair of wins in the sprints. The junior went 11.09 in the 100 meters and 22.37 in the 200 meters for the win. Kratz also added a win in the long jump with a leap of 22-2, which is a PA-AA#2. Dock's Ian Anderson won the 400 meters in 51.69.

In the hurdles, McConnellsburg's Josh Booth won the 300 meter hurdles in 40.45, while Bermudian Springs' Trevor Grim won the 110 meter hurdles narrowly in a time of 15.34.


GIRLS' RECAP

Annville-Cleona's Reagan Hess continues to show she'll be one of the main names to watch this season in AA. After a big meet at Ship last year, Hess followed it up with another great performance this year. Hess won the 100 meters (12.18), the 200 meters (26.00) and then came won the long jump with a PA#4 leap of 18-9.75 in a busy day for the senior.


McConnesllsburg's McKenzie Gelvin had an impressive day as well. Gelvin ran 59.06 to win the 400 meters, and then she came back to dominate the field in the 800 meters, running 2:16.01, the fastest girls' half mile of the day, to win.

Pine Grove's Christina DiFalco took home the win in the 3200 meters. The sophomore, who was second in Class A in XC clocked an overall PA#3 10:54.36 for a huge win. Maddie McLain of Eastern York was second in that 3200 meters and then she came back to win the 1600 meters in 5:21.07.


Lake Lehman's Emily Johns was a double winner in the throws. Johns won the shot put with a toss of 39-6.5 and the the discus with a throw of 130-11. Millville's Morgan Bower was first in the javelin with a throw of 129-0.

Juniata's Sydney Sheaffer won the high jump, clearing 5-1. In the triple jump, Penn Cambria's Lauren Michina claimed the win with a best jump of 36-5.75.
