In a highly anticipated battle in the 1600 meters, Carlisle's Sam Affolder took second to McDonogh's Dalton Hengst. Hengst, who lives in PA, but go to school in Maryland, had the better kick, beating Affolder in a dash to the line. Hengst clocked in at 4:08.04, while Affolder was second in a PA#1 and US#5 4:08.67.
Affolder returned to win the 800 meters later in the day in a time of 1:54.32, which is a PA#8.
Harrisburg's Ronald Kent took some good strides towards what could be a big postseason for him. Kent took first in the 100 meters in 11.09 and then returned to win the 200 meters in 22.72. What does he have in store for championship season?
In the 3200 meters, Lower Dauphin's Kyler Shea won in 9:44.52.

Carlisle's Deshawn Millington posted his best jump of the season in his best event, the triple jump. The former state champ soared 48-3.75 in the triple for the win. That puts him at PA#3 in what should shape up to be a very interesting event at the state meet this fall. Millington also jumped 22-1.5 to win the long jump.
In the pole vault, Red Lion's Gregory Potter took the win, getting the best of Cumberland Valley's Zach Austen. Potter jumped 14-6, a new PA#9, for the win, while Austen cleared 14-0.
Lampeter Strasburg's Josh Eidemiller continues to be one of the state's most consistent performers in the javelin. The junior threw 180-6 for the convincing win on Saturday. It's just off his own PA#11, but expect Eidemiller to be a serious factor at states later this month.
Chambersburg's Kelton Chastulik took home a pair of wins in the throws. The senior won the shot put with a throw 57-5 and then was first in the discus with a toss of 151-7.
