South Williamsport's Katie Jones clears state-record 13-7

South Williamsport's Katie Jones is now the outdoor state record holder in the pole vault.

Jones, a senior, cleared 13-7 at the PIAA District 4 Championships to take the win and break the PA all-time best mark. The previous state best was 13-6 by Easton Area's Lindsay Regan from 2005.

After battling a stress fracture for most of the outdoor season, Jones made her return to the runway at last week's PHAC Championship Meet, where she jumped 13-0. It appears Jones is healthy and ready to chase even bigger heights at states, where she is the defending Class AA champion.

During the winter season, Jones jumped a personal best of 13-9.25 to win the title at New Balance Nationals Indoor.
