Kick Of The Week: Esther Seeland Comes From Behind To Win

Esther Seeland was ready for a big race on Saturday when she squared off against some top-notch distance runners in her backyard.

At the Kevin Dare Invitational on the campus of Penn State, the State College senior Seeland proved she is poised to be in the states conversation. Seeland entered the final lap in eighth place, but she made a huge move on the backstretch to position herself in third place with 100 meters to go.

But ahead of her was Marlee Starliper (Northern) and Lydia Olivere (Padua), a pair of runners who qualified for national XC meets in the fall. That didn't matter to Seeland, who ran both of them down in the closing meters to capture the win in epic fashion.

Seeland clocked a time of 2:17.11 for a new PA#2 and US#11.
