Top Talent To Descend Upon Lehigh: PTFCA Carnival Preview

Girls' Distance Preview - PTFCA Indoor Track Carnival

800 Meters

After a huge kick at Kevin Dare, State College's Esther Seeland returns to the open 800 meters. She went 2:17.11, a time that is currently PA#4. But she'll get a good race from Marlee Starliper of Northern, whom she out-kicked at Kevin Dare. Starliper is coming off the fourth fastest indoor mile in state history at the Millrose Games (4:44.97), so look for the sophomore to run quick on Saturday.

Also in the field is Taryn Parks (Greencastle-Antrim), Sarah Crissman (Fleetwood Area), Kyra Carroll (Penn Wood), and Makenna Krebs (Central Dauphin East).

Mile

Parks of Greencastle-Antrim headlines the mile field. The sophomore went 5:00.55 (PA#5) at the VA Showcase earlier this season for the win. She hasn't raced a whole lot (Kevin Dare was her only other race), but she's a talented miler and will be favored to win on Saturday.

Others in the field to watch for include Jessica Schneider (Academy of Notre Dame), Katie Locker (Elizabethtown Area), Tatyana Gibson (Milton Hershey), Kileigh Kane (State College Area), and Tina Capparell (Marian Catholic), among others.

3,000 Meters

Starliper will return from the 800 to race the 3K, an event where she's PA#1, a time that came during a makeshift workout at F&M a few weeks ago. We'll see how much faster she can go this week. Eastern York's Maddie McLain, Warwick's Kate Dickow, Penn Charter's Emma Zwall, State College's Cailin Saylor, and Coatesville's Brooke Hutton in a race that should surely shake up the state rankings.
