Pennsylvania Indoor Champs Weekend Meets On Tap

DVGTCA Meet of Champions - Meet Preview

The winter has flown by and now it's time for the DVGTCA Meet of Champions, set for Friday night at Lehigh University. The best of the best from the DVGTCA season are set for a big meet.

SPRINTS/HURDLES

The 60-meter hurdles are loaded to the brim with Perkiomen Valley's Christina Warren, Upper Dublin's Madison Langley-Walker, Exeter's Symone Foster, Neumann Goretti's Sydni Townsend, and Council Rock South's Elke Knecht. Warren dropped a PA#1 8.76 in the hurdles at the Carnival last week.

The 60 meters figures to be a close race with Norristown's Jonae Cook (PA#4) as the top seed. Also entered are PA#6 Aja Davis of Lower Merion, PA#8 Lauryn James of Central, and Cheltenham's Ni Asia Williams.

Pennridge's Kouri Peace will aim for her third straight MOC title in the 200 meters, but Peace has battled an injury this season and hasn't been 100%. The field is stacked with Arianna Eberly of Coatesville as the top seed. Cheltenham's Alexis Crosby and Coatesville's Porsha Miles will make the seeded heat a "can't miss" event. In the 400 meters, Alexandria Kitchell of Springside Chestnut Hill will aim for the win, but her teammate Haley Unthank may be her best competition.

DISTANCE

In the 4x800-meter relay, the Neumann Goretti girls will look to open up the meet in a big way. The Saints ran a PA#2 of 9:29.00 in the event a few weeks ago, and sit as the top seed, but Strath Haven went 9:11.19 at the Millrose Games and should be looked at as the favorites if they decide to load up the relay. Penn Wood, Central Bucks West, and Central Bucks East should also be factors.

In the DMR, Strath Haven, North Penn and Central Bucks East are among the top seeds.

The open 800 meters appears wide open with Baldwin School's Myla Barnett, Penn Wood's Kyra Carroll, and Great Valley's Amy Willig as the top seeds. But the top-ranked athlete in the field isn't even in the fastest section; Coatesville's Sammie Miller has run 2:17.90 (PA#9) and should be worth watching for.

There's just one heat of the mile, with Jessica Schneider of the Academy of Notre Dame entering as the top seed. There's also just one heat of the 3,000 meters with Olivia Dyer of North Penn as the top seed. Coatesville's Brooke Hutton is also worth watching for in that 3K field.

FIELD

In the jumps, Warren and Langley-Walker, who are going head-to-head in the hurdles, will also face-off in the long jump and the triple jump. Warren enters Friday at PA#5 in the long jump; Langley-Walker is PA#6. In the triple jump Warren is at PA#1, while Langley-Walker, the reigning indoor state champ, is at PA#3.

PA#3 Brianna Smith of Cheltenham will go for the win in the high jump, but Bishop McDevitt's Blair Knuckle, Quakertown's Kacey Lambinus, and Council Rock North's Kate Donnelly are all at PA#7 and will also be aiming for the win.

Methacton's Camaryn Rodriguez is the top seed in the pole vault, while Haverford's Cecilia Katcavage will shoot for her fifth win of the season in the shot put.
