Michael Cherry Wins 400m USATF Indoor National Title

Less than five years after his epic AAA State Meet performance Oscar Smith's Michael Cherry is the 400m national champion. He won this event at the USATF Indoor Nationals with his 45.53 indoor personal best. After high school he went on to run for LSU and now competes as a professional runner for Nike.

It only took him 1822 days to do it but he has finally taken down his epic AAA State Championship performance. On that day, 2/23/13, he won the 500 in 1:03.13 then set the national record in the 300 in 33.05 and capped off the day by splitting a 46.5 in the 4x400m relay. That performance was arguable one of the best state meet performances in the history of our sport.

Two other days that probably rank high for him as well were when he won and then successfully defended his NCAA titles in the 400m dash indoors.
