Team Breakdown: PIAA District 12 Girls

D12-A Girls - Team Breakdown

Paul Robeson has been the class of 1A for the last two years, after perennial powers Masterman shifted to 2A. Masterman had won the previous four D12-A titles.

But know Masterman returns to 1A this season with the latest PIAA reclassification and will once again become the favorites for the title. Viki Mancoridis and Marina Mancoridis, who went 2-3 in D12-AA last season are back for their senior seasons and should supply crucial low sticks. Masterman also returns the rest of its top seven and will go for yet another district title, regardless of classification.

Then the race is on for the other qualifying spot in 1A. Paul Robeson loses four from its district title team from last year. It will have some rebuilding to do if it wants a return trip to Hershey.

That leaves us with the recently crowned national champions in the 4x800-meter relay, Neumann Goretti. The Saints went 1-2 in D12-A last year, led by then-frosh Sherisse Peterson and 400m state champ Mykala Perry. Neumann Goretti has a wealth of mid-distance talent that should translate into another XC states bid.

Conwell-Egan, Motivation, and Constitution are among the other squads with hopes of states out of D12-A.
