Team Breakdown: PIAA District 12 Girls

D12-AA Girls - Team Breakdown

A few changes are coming to D12-AA for the start of the fall after the most recent reclassification by the PIAA. Last year's champs from Masterman will return to 1A, but returning to 2A is Archbishop Wood, which dominated D12-AA for four years after the PIAA added a third classification in 2012 (Before that, Wood won 3A district crowns in 2010 and 2011).

The matchup to watch this year in D12-AA is between Wood and Msgr. Bonner & Abp Prendie. Bonner-Prendie was second last season in the district, earning a trip to states after a big win for the PCL title. PCLs will give us a good preview of districts, but luckily these squads are granted two state spots out of D12.

Bonner-Prendie returns five of seven from last year's varsity team, but will lose its top two, including '17 D12-AA champion Jenna Rastatter. Maggie Salter will look to lead the way for the Pandas in 2018. Wood, meanwhile, was third in D12-AAA last season. It returns four from its '17 varsity squad with Casey Ems and Shannon Kelly expected to pace that squad.

Competing with those two will be a tall order for any other squads in 2A. Lansdale Catholic is traditionally strong, but will need depth and a full scoring five to make a run at Hershey. GAMP and Bartram are also worth keeping an eye on.
