Team Breakdown: PIAA District 10 Girls

D10-A Girls - Team Breakdown

The defending 1A state champs have moved to 2A before the start of the coming season, but that doesn't mean at all the talent has fled D10-A. We should see an exciting battle at Buhl Park for the two state qualifying spots, and those teams could certainly have success at Hershey, too.

Lakeview was second to Fairview at districts last season and went on to place 12th at states. It loses three girls from last year's D10-A runners-up, but returns a solid duo up front led by Claire Oliver and Danielle Williams. Lakeview will need to tighten that 1-5 gap to win another district title like it did in 2016.

Bringing back its full top seven from last year is Union City Area. Led by two-time state medalist Abby Anaya (a rising senior), UCA will have a lot of motivation to crack into the top two this season and book a trip to Hershey.

Not far behind them last year was Wilmington, a very young squad that could make some serious noise this fall. This squad had four freshmen in its top five last season, led by the impressive Grace Mason, who took third in the district last season. Now a sophomore, Mason is the top returner in D10-A.

Sharpsville Area, Reynolds, Seneca, and Saegertown are among the other teams hoping for a shot at a top two spot in the district this season.
