Individuals Breakdown: District 6 Boys

D6-A Boys - Individuals Breakdown

As Penns Valley Area rolled to a decisive state championship in Class A last spring, it was a mixture of veteran talent and freshmen upstarts. While some seniors have graduated from that team, those freshmen are ready to assume the role of team leaders this season.

Colton Sands of Penns Valley was third at districts last year and went on to be his team's top runner at states, placing tenth as one of Penns Valley's four state medalists. Brendan Colwell was fourth at districts and then took 18th at the state meet. Both rising sophomores will be serious threats once again for high finishes in D6-A and the state as a whole.

Looking to break up that PVA top two is Hunter Armstrong of Marion Center Area. Armstrong was fifth at districts, just behind Colwell, and then beat him at states, taking 16th. Expect Armstrong to mix it up for the district crown this season. Another returning D6 medalist is Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy's Carter Kauffman, who was sixth at districts and then 23rd at states. Kauffman could also contend for the win in this strong district.

Other boys worth keeping an eye on this fall are Bishop McCort's Michael Hanik and Darius Hinton, and SJCA's Isaac Hyman and Zach DeCarmine.

There's a lot of young talent back in District 6 Class A this season, and that will translate to plenty of medalists once again on the Hershey hills.
