Individuals Breakdown: District 3 Boys

D3-A Boys - Individuals Breakdown

Two-time D3-A champion Brenden Miller has graduated, leaving us with what should be a very close race for the top spot this season at Big Spring.

The one to beat may be a 1A newcomer this season: Will Bucher of Trinity. Last fall in 2A, Bucher was 25th at districts in a time of 17:16, faster than any 1A returner in D3. He went on to take 59th at states in 2A. Now his team moves to 1A and he'll be a contender for a district crown.

But nine of the top ten from the D3-A race are back this year (Miller is the only one gone), so there are many boys that will be in the mix for the top spot and the limited state qualifying spots this season. Fairfield Area's John Whitcomb was second at districts last season. After taking 65th at states, he'll be worth watching for this fall.

West Shore Christian's Alex Rosenberry, Harrisburg Christian's Evan Smetak, and York Catholic's Christian Gervasi also placed inside the top five of D3-A last season. In this open field, any of these boys could rise to the top this season.

Delone Catholic's Gabe Hall and Adler Brininger, West Shore Christian's Caleb Van Grouw, Kutztown Area's Mitchell Brett, and Veritas Academy's Neil Martin took top ten district spots last season. With just five non-team individual state qualifying spots on the line, the competition will be very heated this season in D3-A.
