Pennsylvania XC Week 3 Meets On Tap

George School Invitational - Meet Preview

GIRLS: The race for the top individual spot in the PAISAA figures to involve four contenders, and those four will all be toeing the line at the George School on Saturday for an early season battle. Defending PAISAA champ Emma Zwall, but the sophomore will likely have some company up front from defending meet champion Rebecca Wusinich of Friends' Central, Isabelle Goldstein of Germantown Academy, and Annika Marcelis of Germantown Friends. This will be the 5K season opener for all four, so each will be looking for an early confidence booster.

Those four aren't the only contenders in this race, though. Kelly Murray of Gwynedd-Mercy, fresh off a win at Abington, aims to keep it rolling into Saturday. Upper Moreland's Jill Kelly, sixth at Abington, will also be a factor.

In the team race, PA#1-Independent Penn Charter will go for the win. Upper Dublin, The Lawrenceville School, Lenape Regional (NJ), and Mount Saint Joseph (Abington Invite champs) will look to challenge in what could be a close race up top.

BOYS: Jeffrey Love ran to the win at his home invite last year and he'll look to do the same thing this season. The George School senior is coming off a second place finish at Mill Street last week and will be the favorite to win this week on his home turf.

Love will have a host of challengers, most notably Kevin Sankey of Haddon Heights (NJ), Michael Henry of Timber Creek (NJ), Phoenixville Area's Gabe Puleo, and Collin Hess of Malvern Prep. It could be a good day for some breakthrough performances from some of the boys in this field.

Lenape Reg., Peddie School, Haddon Heights, Bensalem, and Phoenixville Area are among the teams to watch for here.
