Stars Will Collide At Hershey: PIAA Foundation Preview

Boys' White (A) Race Preview - PIAA Foundation Invitational

Race Time: 11:15 A.M.

Class A is very strong at the top individually this season and the three 1A boys ranked inside our top 25 will face off at Hershey for a states precursor. Jenkintown's Jack Miller, Holy Cross's Andrew Healey, and Penns Valley's Colton Sands are those boys and though they enter at PA#11, PA#15, and PA#19, respectively, the race is wide open.

Miller was third at states last year and won at Mill Street two weeks ago. Healey, fourth at states last year, was eighth against a loaded PTXC 10 field. Sands, who placed tenth at states, picked up an impressive win at Penn State two weeks ago. Who will get the upperhand at Hershey before they all return in November?

Other top individuals to watch for include Wyalusing Valley's Kevin Heeman, Northern Bedford's Ian Zimmerman (winner at Altoona last week), Jenkintown's Carter Geer, Penns Valley's Brendan Colwell, Southern Columbia's Ethan Knoebel, Serra Catholic's Lukas Dunaway, Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy's Carter Kauffman, and Winchester Thurston's Scott Routledge.

The team race will be very interesting here. PA#1-A squad Winchester Thurston will be going for the win, but PA#2-A Jenkintown has proven to have some great depth. These two teams have some firepower and it could be very close when all is said and done just before noon. PA#5-A Clarion Area, and of course, the defending 1A state champs from Penns Valley Area will also be in the mix. Wyalusing Valley Area, second at Lock Haven earlier this season, could make a big statement, as well, on Saturday.
