Starliper Debuts, NA Impresses: PIAA Foundation Recap

Girls' Blue Race Recap - PIAA Foundation Invitational

Marlee Starliper made her return to XC a successful one. After a delayed start to her season (she was scheduled to open up at PTXC 10, but was sick), Starliper showed few signs of rust on a tough Hershey course. Starliper solo'd to the win in 18:12.

The Northern junior said she may have gone out a little slower than she'd like (she noted she felt she went out too fast at states last year), but was very pleased her her opener overall. Next up for Starliper is Paul Short at Lehigh, where she'll chase the win and a fast time.

Northern also claimed the team title, making a big early statement. Katie Anthony placed sixth overall and the Polar Bears scored 150 points for the win. Northwestern Lehigh had a 59 second gap and took second with 164 points, showing that it can contend. Danville Area, the reigning AA state champs were third with 177 points, two ahead of North Shore (NY), which placed fourth.

Gianna Labbiento continued her busy start to her sophomore campaign with another strong showing. The Sharon runner took second in 19:04, which keeps up her trend of running much faster than she did the previous season at the same invites.

Cori McCormick  of North Schuylkill was third in 19:44, Sophie Rosencrans of North Shore was fourth in 20:02, and Mia Bellucci of Scranton Preparatory came across fifth in 20:03.
