PA, Out-Of-Staters Will Clash: Carlisle Invitational Preview

Boys' Champions Race Preview - Carlisle Invitational

The one to beat in the boys' Champions Race is Thomas Garrison of Washingtonville. He went 15:25 to win to his home invite last week and now he'll be shooting for another fast time this week out of state in PA.

He'll get a good race from a pair that raced at the PIAA Foundation Invitational last week. Woodgrove (VA)'s Rylan Pettit returns to PA after taking seventh in the Gold Race at Hershey last week (16:28). A few ticks ahead of that time in the Blue Race was Juniata's Garrett Baublitz, who ran 16:26 to take third at Hershey. Both should give a good challenge to Garrison.

Lancaster Mennonite's Logan Horst beat Baublitz at Big Spring a few weeks ago, and he returns to action this weekend. Expect one of this season's top PA breakthroughs to be in the mix, too. James W. Robinson (MD)'s Silas Matthew and Cornwall (NY)'s Blaine Doyle will also look to get involved up front in the Champions Race.

In the team race, out-of-state squads like Washingtonville (NY), Cornwall (NY), Rock Ridge (VA), and Riverside (VA) will compete for the top spot. Lewisburg Area, one of PA's top Class AA teams will look to make some noise. Lower Dauphin and J.P. McCaskey are also worth watching for here.
