10 Takeaways From Districts Week

1. Marlee Starliper is fitter than ever

Any concerns one may have had over Marlee Starliper's early-season performances that didn't quite match those from a year prior, were put to rest on Saturday. Despite the rain, mud, and a hilly Big Spring course, the Northern junior dropped the state's fastest 5K time of the season.

Starliper went 17:19 to win the PIAA District 3 Class AA title. What that raced proved is that not only is she primed to win her second straight state title, but also that she is the fittest she's ever been.

Starliper's training is likely geared towards running her best at regionals and nationals, but don't be surprised to see Pennsylvania's brightest star chase a very fast time at Hershey, regardless of course conditions.
