Hirata Highlights Team VA's Action W/ Penn Relays Record

Stafford senior Gennifer Hirata once again showed the nation she is the girl to beat in the pole vault when it comes to big meets. Thursday she took home the gold watch from Penn Relays with her Penn Relays record vault of 13-7.75. That makes her a perfect four for four on the season.

She was joined by the Western Branch boys who also took home a victory this weekend. These Bruins won the Virginia-loaded national 4x100m relay title in a new VA No. 1 time of 41.86.

Also bringing home a new state leading mark in the relays was L.C. Bird who ran a quick 3:16.32. They ran shoulder to shoulder with three-time defending champions Calabar until the final 50m to run that time.

Finally Virginia also had some impressive hurdle marks from Britton Wilson and EJ Richardson. Wilson ran 58.58 for 2nd and the state lead while EJ ran 52.57 for 3rd and the state lead. Wilson's time ranks US   No. 1 this season and EJ's ranks US No. 2.
