AAA Boys' 300m Hurdles Preview
The class of the intermediate hurdles since the start of the season has been Penn Wood's Timmy Odunjo. He's been atop the state rankings since Week 1 and has been winning and getting better ever since. He went 37.80 (PA No. 1) to win the Delco title and then won District 1 last week in 37.98. He's got the only sub-38 time in the state this season, and he'll be the favorite for a state title.
A number of others will be looking for the upset in the event. District 3 champ Dejon Manning of J.P. McCaskey is the second seed. He ran a season best of 38.43 to win the L-L League and should be in contention. Northeast's Godwin Kabanda ran a big PR of 38.51 to win the District 12 title last week. He was seventh at states last year and is the lone returner from last year's state final.
Ridley's Tony Graham was third in District 1, but has the state's second best time. He went 38.42 at Delcos. Look for Graham to place high here. Downingtown West's Ethan Robinson took second in District 1 with a PR of 38.81 and will be the No. 4 seed on Friday.
State College Area's Zachary DeCarmine (38.79 season best), Williamsport Area's Allen Taylor (38.83 season best), and West Mifflin's Dontae Lewis (39.05) are among the other strong intermediate hurdlers that are worth keeping an eye on in this field.
