Geist Wins; Brissett, Jackson Score NACAC Medals

Jordan Geist took home the shot put title, and Chanel Brissett and Dashaun Jackson also won medals for Team USA rounding out a big Day 2 at the NACAC U23 Championships for Pennsylvania high school alums.

NACAC, which stands for the North American, Central American, and Caribbean Athletics Association, is taking place this weekend in Queretaro, Mexico.

Geist, a 2017 Knoch graduate, tossed a meet record of 20.81 meters (over 68 feet) for the win in the U23 men's shot put. The University of Arizona rising junior was over 2 meters ahead of second place Kyle Mitchell of Jamaica. Geist's NACAC win comes on the heels of a third place finish in the shot put at the NCAA Track & Field Championships.

Geist wasn't the only PA alum taking home some hardware.

Brissett, a 2018 Cheltenham graduate, took second in the U23 women's 100 meter hurdles. She clocked a time of 12.73 to take runner-up honors to fellow American Tonea Marshall, who ran 12.57 for gold. That was a PR for Marshall of LSU. At the NCAA Championships, Brissett, a University of Southern California rising junior, was second while Marshall was third.

In the U23 men's 110 meter hurdles, Jackson's dream season continued. Jackson, who graduated from Harrisburg in 2015 and just graduated from Saint Francis University, went 13.58 with a dive at the finish line to narrowly take third place. Jackson was third in an historically fast 110h hurdle final at the NCAA Championships last month.

Both Geist and Brissett will keep their busy summers going. The pair was named to Team USA, which will compete in the Pan-American Championships on August 6-10 in Lima, Peru.
