Grace Mason was second in D10-A last season before running the best race of her career at Hershey, a 19:58 in the first race of the day on a very muddy states course. That was good enough for third in the state. Now the Wilmington rising junior is among the state's top returners and will be the one to beat in D10-A. She could even come away with a state title this fall.

Kennedy Catholic's Ellie Wanner will be another threat for the district title and a high states finish. She was third a year ago as her teammate Dannah Javens (now graduated) earned the win. Wanner then took ninth at states. The senior will look to keep the individual district crown in house at KC and she'll certainly be a factor.

The only other state medalist from D10 in Class A was Elizabeth Kline of Cambridge Springs. As a freshman, Kline took 25th at the state meet after a ninth place district finish. Hannah Wagner of Reynolds, who was fifth at districts, narrowly missed a state medal taking 28th. Look for both to be on the hunt for a state meet podium spot this season and a high district finish.

One girl you can't count out is Lakeview's Claire Oliver. She ran 20:19 at Sharpsville last season and has the talent to compete near the top of the district.

Along with Kline, other impressive D10-A freshman include Maplewood's Alexis Wyant (fourth at districts), North East's Madison Hartner, Sharpsville's Lily Smith, Saegertown's Paige Fuller, and Wilmington's Becka Book. West Middlesex's Emma Pringle, a senior, took seventh at districts and should be a factor, along with that crop of rising sophomores

Union City Area steam rolled its way through District 10 last season en route to a second place finish in the state in 1A. UC had some terrific depth and a crazy 2 through 6 that was separated by less than 20 seconds. Gone is UC's top girl (Abby Anaya) from its 2018 D10-A championship squad and one other girl (Allie Van Dee), but five others are back making this a very formidable squad once again.

Lakeview was second to Union City last season, earning the second of two state spots. Lakeview loses two of its top runners from last year to graduation, but Oliver is back. Lakeview, which placed eighth at states, has the talent back to contend again this season.

But Wilmington will be on the hunt for the top two after a third place 2018 finish. Top runner Mason is an individual state title threat, while the team returns 6 of 7 from last year's squad that missed states by 25 points.

Reynolds, Saegertown, and Maplewood are a trio of teams with a legitimate shot at cracking the top two. These teams went 4-5-6 at districts last year with just 9 points separating them. Reynolds has 5 returners, Saegertown returns its full varsity squad, and Maplewood has 4 back. Each has a strong frontrunner and could make a run at a state qualifier. West Middlesex (seventh last year in D10-A) brings back six girls from a year ago and could be a factor, too.
