Individuals Preview

Isabell Sagar was absolutely magnificent during her senior year. The Loyalsock grad rolled to the District 4 title and went on to run away with the Class A individual state crown. She won the D4 crown by well over two and a half minutes. Now she's off to Harvard and the door is open for a new champ in the district.

Caroline Fletcher of Mount Carmel Area will look to seize that No. 1 spot. She was second in the district last year and ran well at the state meet to take 37th. She'll be the overwhelming favorite during her junior year to win the district title and should compete for a state medal.

Wyalusing Valley Area's Catherine Brown and the Troy duo of Sydney Taylor and Mya Thuotte are the others back from the top ten in the district from last season.

Team Preview

Troy returned to the top spot in District 4 Class A after winning in 2016 and taking second in 2017. The defending champs lose its top two runners from last season, but bring back their next five from a team that went on to take tenth at the state meet.

Taylor and Thuotte are a strong top two that put Troy in a good position to win its third district title in four years.

Mount Carmel Area may have something to say about that though. After taking third in the district last year, MCA brings back its full varsity squad and should be able to give Troy a good run for the district's lone state qualifying spot. Fletcher will likely score one point at districts, while Mount Carmel has some good depth after her. It should be an interesting battle.

Loyalsock Township, Canton Area, and Mansfield are among the other teams looking to make a push for a high finish this fall in D4-A.
