Individuals Preview

Laura Sakol of Camp Hill will look to turn her strong junior season into an even better senior year. Last year, Sakol took second in D3-A and then went on to earn a state medal, placing 21st at Hershey. She's coming off a solid spring, where she ran 11:23 for 3200 meters and 5:21 for 1600 meters. She comes in as a pretty big district favorite and should be in line for another state medal and a shot at the top ten in the state.

Kutztown's Erika Moriarty and Delone Catholic's Julia Obrien were third and fourth, respectively, in the district last season. Both are back this season. Obrien was 27th in the state, just missing a state medal, so expect her to have motivation to come back to Hershey looking for the top 25.

Among the other top returners in D3-A are Annville-Cleona's Braetan Peters, Veritas Academy's Sarah Trimbath, and Fairfield's Morgan Dennison, who will all be looking to get inside the top five of the district this fall.

Team Preview

Camp Hill will look to win its third straight District 3 Class A team title. In 2018, Camp Hill ran away with the win, and with it, the lone state qualifying spot, scoring 57 points to win by 25. At states, they placed fifth.

This season Camp Hill brings that full varsity squad back, and are the No. 2 ranked 1A squad in the state. Sakol will lead the way, and Kaitlyn Vorkapich, Bramley Hawkins, and Janelyn Vorkapich, and Julia Aungst make up a strong top five that is capable of competing for not just the district title, but also the state's top spot.

2018 runner-up Annville-Cleona (four varsity returners) will look to challenge, along with Kutztown Area (six varsity returners), York Catholic (five varsity returners), and Delone Catholic (five varsity returners).
