The Starliper-led Northern squad made quite the statement as a unit. Obviously Starliper's one-stick was big, but the Polar Bears displayed some terrific depth, putting three others in the top ten. Katie Anthony is a solid No. 2; she was fourth in 19:12. Northern is the state's No. 1 AA team and it proved why on Saturday.

Northeastern is another strong team. It placed second with 51 points, 12 off Northern.

Gwyneth Young of Cedar Crest had a strong start to her season. The junior went 18:30 for second. Coming off a good sophomore season, Young looks to be in a good spot heading into the middle of September. Northeastern's Margaret Carroll also ran well, taking third in 18:43.

Boys Recap

Northern Lebanon's Gage Krall continued his hot start to 2019 with a win. After a strong opener at Lock Haven, the senior dropped a quick time of 15:47 to win the boys' race, outlasting a solid field. Cedar Crest's Tommy Bildheiser was second in 15:49, while Palmyra's Jakolby Fackler took third in 15:53.

Cedar Crest proved that it will be a force this season as a team. The Falcons had a 51-second 1 through 5 spread and scored 37 points to take a 40-point win over second place Palmyra. Bildheiser led the way with a strong run and Ryan Scicchitano had a breakthrough performance, running 16:08 for fourth.
