Hershey Heats Up: PIAA Foundation Recap

Girls White Race Recap - PIAA Foundation Invitational

Haley Hamilton was content on hanging in the pack. The Our Lady of Sacred Heart senior knows Hershey's course well and didn't want to go out too hard. Then she steadily moved up to the lead pack after the mile and moved into the lead from there.

She wouldn't have to look back, winning in 19:29 for a decisive victory. Hamilton wasn't far off her course PR at Hershey, which was just 8 seconds faster from the state meet two years ago. She'll be among the Class A favorites when we return to Hershey for states in November.

Northern Lehigh's Reagan Pender, who was second at Foundation last season, had a repeat silver performance, placing second again in 19:53, a Hershey best. Wilmington's Grace Mason, who took the pace out early came home third in 20:07, while Elk Lake's Krista Jones was fourth in 20:09. Reynolds' Hannah Wagner ran well to take fifth in 20:50.

In the team race, Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy made a big statement, claiming the team title with 87 points. Kathleen Simander led the way for the Wolves, taking 11th in 21:10. Camp Hill was a close second, scoring 97 points and Vincentian Academy was third with 116 points.
