The Week That Was: PA Week 4 XC Recaps

George School Invitational - Meet Recap

It was another big week for Lydia Russell. After running to the Briarwood win last week, the Friends' Central junior followed that up with another big win. Russell went 17:19 to win by nearly a minute at the George School. That's a course record and another tremendous performance by the junior, who keeps turning heads every step of the way.

Germantown Academy's Isabelle Goldstein placed second in 18:18, which is a 5K PR and a considerable improvement from her George School time from a year ago. Pennsbury's Tatum Lynch continued her strong start to 2019 with a third place finish in 18:43 and Penn Charter's Emma Zwall was fourth in 18:57.

Friends' Central earned the team win, putting five in the top 12. After Russell, Micah Trusty was the next FCS runner across, taking sixth overall. FCS scored 40 points. Germantown Academy was second with 77 points and Penn Charter was third with 84 points.

In the boys' race, Robert DiDonato made his invitational season debut a successful one, running 16:02 for the win. The junior went 16:02, a 5K best and 26 seconds faster than his time at the same meet a year ago for the win. It was a GA 1-2 finish as Matt Sandifer came across second in 16:18. Friends' Central's Diego Spielman-Rodriguez was third in 16:29.

The Westtown School captured the team title led by a 4-5 finish by sophomores Constantin Carls (16:33) and Will Nagy (16:34). Westtown put up 73 points with a 57-second 1 through 5 spread to claim the win. Germantown Friends was second with 89 points and Germantown Academy was third with 114 points.
