Ridgway Invitational - Meet Preview
It will be a big showdown between many of District 9's top individuals and teams on the district course at Ridgway. Many of the top players are coming out for this one.
Punxsutawney's Olivia Roberts will go for her first invitational victory of the season on Saturday. Roberts went sub-20 at both Big Valley and then again last weekend at Carlisle, where she placed third in the Champions Race. She'll be tough to beat. Saint Marys Area's Samantha Hayes, DuBois Area's Julia Wirths, and Kane Area's Emily Peterson will look to give her a run.
In the team race, Saint Marys Area will be the team to beat with Punxsutawney, Bradford Area, and DuBois Area looking to challenge.
In the boys' race, it will be a good matchup between AA squad Punxsutawney and D9's 1A squads Cranberry, Elk County Catholic, and Clarion Area. DuBois Area and Bradford Area will look to get in the mix, as well.
Individually, it should be an exciting race. Ben Hoffman of Elk County Catholic won at the Bradford Invite and will look to keep it rolling. But Clarion Area's Nathaniel Lerch, Cranberry's Matt Woolcock, and ECC's Joe Wolfe should make it an interesting race up front.
