The VA Showcase Scores Two National High School Records

1. Taylor Ewert destroys her own American Junior Record in the 3K race walk


Beavercreek (OH) High School senior and Arkansas signee Taylor Ewert started off festivities with a jaw-dropping performance in the 3K racewalk, absolutely obliterating her previous American Junior Record and national high school record of 13:24.76. Ewert executed from the gun and closed with a fervor, posting a new record of 13:00.56. The United State Olympic Trials qualifier in the 20K will head to to the Millrose Games next with her eye on breaking the indoor high school mile race walk record.

2. Athing Mu finds another gear and sets new high school national record in the 500m


In one of the most hyped indoor 500m high school girls fields in history, Trenton Track Club runner Athing Mu lived up to expectations yet again, breaking the the national record with a time of 1:10.22. It didn't come easy, and Mu had to work in the final 200 meters on her own to get it, but she surpassed -- by the slimmest of margins -- the former mark of 1:10.30 which was held by Chanelle Price from 2008.
